R-2000 Program |
R-2000 is an initiative of Natural Resources Canada (NRCan), developed in partnership with the building industry. The R-2000 standard is a comprehensive set of requirements related to energy efficiency, indoor air quality and the use of environmentally sensitive products and materials.
Since its introduction over 20 years ago, the R-2000 Standard has set the benchmark for home building in Canada. The technology that goes into every R-2000 home has been proven through several decades of research and used in thousands of R-2000 homes across Canada. |
| |
| High Energy Efficiency |
R-2000 homes are approximately 30% more energy efficient* than conventional new homes. Each home must achieve a minimum energy efficiency rating of 80 on the EnerGuide rating scale. |
| |
Inspected and Certified Quality |
A home that is certified to the R-2000 standard must pass a series of independent inspections and energy efficiency tests. That level of quality assurance is available only with R-2000 homes. This quality is guaranteed. Your proof is the R-2000 certificate. |
| |
Trained and Licensed Home Builder |
R-2000 quality involves more than technology. It involves careful construction by specially trained and certified home builders like Urbandale. The R-2000 standard is subject to review and thorough testing. If the R-2000 Standard is changed, home builders receive training updates. |
